JEWELLERY CARE

Most of our pieces at Bohemia London, unless otherwise stated (ie vermeil or 24ct plated gold) use gold plated chain or components. Most gold plated jewellery has either a brass or copper base with a thin layer of gold but with exposure to certain harsh chemicals or moisture can make the gold fade.
So here are a few simple tips to keep your bling looking ultra bling!

1. The gold plate can erode or fade if exposed to harsh cleaning agents or beauty products - make sure when applying your make up or beauty routine or even when doing chores, you remove any of your plated jewellery until complete!

2. Remove your gold plated jewellery before engaging in any sports or activities which will make you sweat, as the salt element will contribute to fading and erosion of the plating.

3. When you're not wearing your jewellery, protect it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight - make sure it is dry before storage, ideally in a jewellery box or pouch to protect it from getting scratched.

4. Remove all gold plated jewellery before any contact with water ( washing, showering, swimming etc) as any harsh chemicals can fade the gold and any constant moisture can tarnish it.

5. To clean your jewellery use a lint free cloth and wipe the the surface to remove dirt or residue. Do not use any harsh or abrasive cleaners, instead use a very mild soap solution to clean it but make sure it is completely dry before wearing or storing.

If you follow these tips and keep perfumes (spray before wearing particularly with any enamel jewellery) water, excessive moisture and chemicals away from your jewellery, you should be able to keep your favourite jewellery pieces looking super lustrous for a long time.
